BMW X5 70AH battery dying every 18 months – is this normal?

    I'm honestly at my wit's end with my 2021 BMW X5 because this will be the third battery I've had to replace since I bought the car, and I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with the electrical system rather than just bad luck with batteries. The first one died at around 16 months, the second one made it to 19 months, and now I'm getting the dreaded "battery discharging while stopped" warning again, which usually means I've only got a few weeks before I'm stuck calling for a jump start. I mainly drive from my home to DIFC and back every day, which is about a 25-minute trip each way, so I don't think it's a lack of driving that's causing the issue. I've had the alternator checked twice and both times the mechanic said it was putting out the correct voltage, so I'm really confused about what's going on. The thing that frustrates me the most is that these aren't cheap batteries – I'm paying a premium for what's supposed to be a high-quality 70AH unit, and yet they keep failing way before their expected lifespan. A buddy of mine who works on European cars mentioned that sometimes the battery registration process isn't done properly, and if the car's computer doesn't know a new battery has been installed, it continues using the old charging profile which can actually damage the new battery over time. I've also heard that some shops don't bother with the proper coding because it takes extra time and they just want to get the job done quickly. I'm considering finding a specialist who actually knows what they're doing with these modern BMWs, maybe someone who offers Meticulous 70AH Battery Service DIFC since I work in that area and it would be convenient to drop the car off during the day. Has anyone else with a newer BMW experienced this constant battery failure issue, and did you manage to figure out what was causing it? I'm starting to think maybe I should just trade the car in and get something simpler because I can't keep throwing money at batteries every year and a half.
