Preparing for a storage certification is different from memorizing a product catalog. HPE storage environments bring together hardware, software, data protection, management, monitoring, and capacity planning, so successful candidates need to understand how the pieces work together.
The HPE Storage Fundamentals exam is intended for professionals who need foundational knowledge of HPE Storage platforms and products. According to HPE, the exam covers areas such as sizing, designing, installing, configuring, optimizing, upgrading, managing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining storage solutions. HPE identifies partners, customers, and team members with around one year of relevant experience as typical candidates.
The first step toward effective preparation is knowing what you are walking into. HPE currently lists the examination as 50 questions with a 90-minute duration and a 70% passing score. The question formats include single-response multiple choice, multiple-response multiple choice, and scenario-based questions.
That last category deserves attention. Scenario questions test whether you can apply knowledge to a practical storage situation rather than simply recognize a definition.
