After years of reading to her own children at bedtime, Hall has written the story she always wanted to give them.

Alida Hall did not set out to write a spiritual book. She set out to write the kind of story that makes a child's face light up at bedtime.

What she created in Alia's Snow Day With the Angels turned out to be both.

The book tells the story of a young girl named Alia who steps outside on a magical snow day and is visited by two angels, their wings shimmering gold in the winter light. What follows is part adventure, part quiet revelation — a journey through a snowy forest that teaches a child not through instruction but through experience that kindness is visible, that wonder is real, and that the world responds to a good heart in ways that cannot always be explained but can always be felt.

Hall holds a master's degree in analytical science, a background that might seem at odds with writing about angels and enchanted snowflakes. But she sees no contradiction. The same curiosity that drives scientific inquiry — the desire to understand how things work, to look more closely at the world, to follow a question wherever it leads — is exactly the spirit she hopes to nurture in young readers.

Her favorite children's book growing up was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. She loved reading to her children at bedtime and watching their faces. She spends her spare time writing. She travels with her family and walks nature trails with her dog. These are not the details of someone writing from a distance. They are the details of someone writing from inside the life she loves.

The dedication in Alia's Snow Day says everything. To my late mother, Juana. To my dearest late husband, Thomas. And to her two children, Peter and Ruby. The book is a love letter written in the language of snow and angels, addressed to the people who made Alida Hall who she is.
